Walt Mossberg is leaving the Wall Street Journal, as Dow Jones splits with AllThingsD

"For years, Dow Jones/The Wall Street Journal has enjoyed working with Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher… however, after discussions, both parties have decided not to renew the agreement," said Gerard Baker, editor in chief of Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal.

A trend is appearing where big names and their teams in technology journalism are leaving bigger companies for more independent pastures. Recent examples are Jessica Lessin and to a lesser extent Andrew Sullivan, who mainly writes about politics.
